I think I might be a little late to this party but I’ve just discovered Brian Andreas and Story People and I’ve fallen completely in love. Particularly with this one…

text: “I remember once I went to my great-grandmother’s house. It was a big white house & it always smelled like slightly burned toast & raspberry jam. She had a picture of Jesus on the wall in her living room. She told me his eyes would follow you around when you walked. I told a friend about it a while ago. He nodded & said he used to have a Chihuahua that did the same thing.”
…For obvious reasons.

I’ve always been fond of: “There was a single blue line of crayon drawn across every wall in the house. What does it mean? I said. A pirate needs the sight of the sea, he said & then he pulled his eye patch down & turned and sailed away.”
And: “Are you a princess? I said & she said I’m much more than a princess, but you don’t have a name for it yet here on earth.”
I adore Storypeople.
DUuuuude, long-time Storypeople convert here. Have you seen the one in my kitchen hanging by the fridge?! LOVE them. Check out “Blue Squares,” one of my FAVORITES. There’s seriously one for every occasion … and you can search by “theme.” Which means I can spend long hours perusing by “friendship,” “love,” etc., ESP. when I’m supposed to be doing anything else.
Oh man, the Story People person that hangs in the little girl’s room says,
“There are things you do that because they feel right & they may make no sense & they may make no money & it may be the real reason we are here: To love each other & to eat each other’s cooking & say it was good.”
And my heart grows every time I see it.
